About Quest for the West

Top Western Artists Share the Stories of the American West

Presented by the Western Art Society and Avis Foundation, Inc.

Join us for Quest for the West®, Indiana’s largest Western art show for more than 20 years, Friday through Sunday, September 11–13, 2026, at the Eiteljorg Museum in downtown Indianapolis. Memorable experiences await pre-registered guests during opening weekend, with opportunities to meet exceptional contemporary Western artists alongside seasoned and emerging art collectors from across the nation.

Purchase world-class sculptures and paintings through two exciting luck-of-the-draw sales, shop for smaller works during the popular miniature sale, and enjoy delicious food and warm Hoosier hospitality in a beautiful, intimate setting. The masterpieces featured in Quest for the West capture moments in time, from the early days of the rugged West to compelling contemporary expressions of life today, making Quest one of the premier Western art shows in the country.

Cathy Turner and Parry Gibbs, Quest chairs

Quest Chair Cathy Turner is proud to lead the planning and organization of this year’s Quest and invites you to register for the opening weekend activities celebrating the work of nationally recognized Quest artists!

Artist of Distinction

The Art of Tim Cherry

We were thrilled to feature the 2025 Quest of the West Artist of Distinction, Tim Cherry, with a solo exhibition honoring his versatile career and celebrating the new and exciting directions his work may take in the future.

“ANIMALS HAVE PERSONALITIES that make me smile, and that is what I try to convey through my work,” says Tim Cherry of his wildlife sculptures. Born 1965 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Cherry now lives in Branson, Missouri. When he was a teenager, a job as an outfitting guide in British Columbia, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories, provided him close contact with the moose, bears, and other animals that he now sculpts. To further explore his interest in wildlife, he studied animal anatomy with a taxidermist whose own sculpture inspired Cherry to try his hand. As a sculptor of animals, both wild and domesticated, Cherry has been influenced more by art nouveau than strict realism, which is evident in the abstract shapes of his playful, stylized works. His sculptures’ smooth finishes lend themselves to a variety of patinas, adding interest and individuality to his creatures.
