Among my favorite subjects are scenes of the contemporary West that I grew up with.  These are not the romanticized images we often see pictured.  I’ve tried to portray my personalized view of the real West.  Even the most ordinary or mundane can be visually exciting if we approach them without a preconceived notion.

A THIRD GENERATION ARIZONIAN, Howard Post grew up on a small ranch near Tucson in southern Arizona. He attended the University of Arizona where he completed his BFA and MFA degrees. In the early 1970s he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for a variety of clients throughout the U.S. After serving on the faculty at both the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, Post began painting full time.

Post’s work can be found in a variety of collections including the Smithsonian, the U.S. Postal Service, and the Tampa, Eiteljorg, Denver, Phoenix, Whitney, Buffalo Bill and National Cowboy and Western Heritage museums. His work has been featured in many publications including Southwest ArtArt NewsWestern Art Collector, and the books Leading the West: 100 Contemporary Artists, and a new retrospective by Rose Fredrick Productions, Howard Post, Western Perspectives.
