How much is admission?

Our admission prices are as follows. Members: Free, Adults: $20, Seniors: $16, Students: Indiana Universities and Colleges are free, out-of-state students are $12, Youth 5-17: $12 and Child 4 & under: Free. Be sure to read the special discounts when purchasing tickets to save more on your visit!

When is the museum open?

The Eiteljorg Museum is open Monday – Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday: noon – 5 p.m. and closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Check our calendar for special events all year long!

How much is parking?

Parking is free for Eiteljorg Museum guests, except on July 4 and during Indian Market and Festival. Bus and motorcoach parking is available nearby at the WRSP south (surface) lot, for groups with reservations. The garage is owned by WRSP and operated by Central Parking. Call Central Parking at (317) 234-0231 with questions.

Do I have to pay admission for the shop or café?
Nope, the café and shop are free to visit and do not have an admission fee!
Do you offer discounts?

We do offer special offers and discounts! There are a lot available, so be sure to read them and let us know when purchasing tickets!

Can I get tickets ahead of time?
Yes, you can purchase tickets online here. You can also call the museum ahead and reserve your tickets at 317-636-9378.
What is included in a membership?

Memberships include unlimited admission so you can come visit us and see all of the new exhibits all year long. You also get free parking during your visit, 15% off purchases in the shop and much more. Visit our memberships page to learn more.

Visit FAQ

Can I take photos or video of the art?

Photography with no flash is allowed for personal use in our permanent galleries unless noted otherwise (i.e. a label may say “no photo” on it). Video is not allowed in permanent galleries. Photography and video are also not allowed in our special exhibits unless noted (signs, etc). Please refrain from being tripods.

What can I bring to the museum?

     

    • Purses, bags, or fanny packs under 11 x 15 x 6 (small backpack-style purses/bags must be worn over one shoulder)
    • Small camera/laptop/ipad cases under 11 x 15 x 6
    • Diaper bags (notify security)
    • Bags containing medicine/water (notify security)
    • Wheelchairs, strollers, canes, crutches, and walkers (hiking sticks not permitted)
    • Sketch pads and notebooks w/ pencils
    • Oxygen Tanks
    Is there a place to store my bags during my visit?
    Yes, you may store any of your items in our designated bag check-in area. We’re happy to provide a place to store your things while you tour the museum. Please be sure to remove all valuables from your items before storing them in our check-in area.
    Is free WiFi available?
    Yes, Wi-Fi is free throughout select areas of the museum including Museum café.
    Do you provide wheelchairs for visitors?
    We work hard to make the museum easily accessible for all visitors. Manual wheelchairs (limited supply) and canes are available free of charge at our main admissions desk.
    Are service animals allowed in the museum?
    Yes, service animals are always welcome.
    Can I touch the art?
    To keep art and artifacts in great condition for all visitors, we do not permit guests to touch the art or artifacts. We do have designated interactive spaces throughout the museum for little ones to touch and interact with some of the things they’ve seen in the museum.
    Do I have to have a group to request a tour?
    Tours are free for all visitors, regardless of the size of your group or if you’re visiting alone. We do ask you to contact us and reserve a guide three weeks in advance. Plan to spend an hour on a tour with additional time for a self-guided experience, plus visits to the museum store and café. Tour time includes highlights of the museum, a special exhibition or a custom experience just for you!

    What does a donation do for the museum?
    Your donation to the Eiteljorg makes things happen! Exhibits, events, programs, and markets are all possible because of your donations. Your commitment ensures that our amazing stories have a future and we thank each and every donor.
    Why donate to the Eiteljorg?
    As a nonprofit organization, we rely tremendously on contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and public agencies to support our many programs. Gifts are welcome year-round and are tax-deductible as allowed by law. We couldn’t do what we do without you and we’re thankful for each and every donation made to support our exhibits, collections, and events.
    How do I make a donation?

    You can make a donation in a few different ways, visit the donate page for all of the information you need and a list of all the ways to make a donation! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us for answers to all of your questions.

    What is a corporate partner?

    Corporate partners are corporations of all sizes and industries that help strengthen the arts and cultural community and help make our world-class exhibitions and public programs possible. Partnerships include different levels of giving, please visit our corporate giving page for more information.

    What does being a member mean?
    Becoming a member means that you don’t have to pay admission each time you visit the museum. You can visit us as many times throughout the year to catch all of our limited-time exhibits! Your membership card entitles you to unlimited admission for a year while supporting the mission of the Eiteljorg to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the art, history, and cultures of the American West and Native America.
    Are there different membership packages?

    Yes! We have a variety of packages to fit your family. Please visit the become a member page to learn more and see the package levels.

    Educators FAQ

    How much is admission for a field trip?
    The Eiteljorg is a great place to bring students of any age! Admission is $5 per student and per adult escort. Indianapolis Public School students get free admission.
    How many chaperones are required for a field trip?
    For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, we require chaperones for all student groups. For grades K-2, one adult chaperone is required for every five students. For grades 3-12, one adult chaperone is required for every ten students.
    Is there any help available for transportation costs?
    We do offer some transportation assistance. When you schedule your visit, please ask about a transportation grant.
    Can I assign my students an activity while visiting?

    Yes, in fact, we have many resources to help build a lesson around your visit to the Eiteljorg. Please be sure to bring pencils and clipboards, ink pens are not permitted. Prior to your visit, check out our resources to build memorable and impactful lessons!

    Where can I find resources for education?

    You can find our collection of educational resources here. If you have any additional questions or would like assistance from one of our staff members, feel free to contact us!

    What can I do in the Library & Resource center?

    Our library & resource center contains more than 8,000 books and catalogs. You can visit the center with students for research and assignments. Our library is not a lending library but can be searched through the Indianapolis Public Library online category.

    Can I print from the resource center?
    Yes! We offer color copies $1.50 each / $1 for students with ID. Black and white copies are $.10 each or $.05 each for students with valid ID.

    Event Spaces FAQ

    Can you hold space and/or a date for me while I make a decision to rent?
    Unfortunately, we do not place holds on space or dates without a deposit (which is non-refundable and nontransferable). We book on a first-come, first-serve basis. You are welcome to check in with us frequently for availability! We’re here to help you make your event perfect for each and every occasion.
    Can you host daytime weddings?
    Due to our regular hours of operation, we cannot accommodate a daytime wedding. After 5:00 p.m. we can host weddings and receptions to make your special day truly remarkable.
    Can you host just ceremonies?
    Our wedding packages include either ceremonies and receptions or just receptions. We do not host ceremonies only at this time.
    Does the Eiteljorg Museum host proms or formals?
    We have a variety of spaces for meetings, parties, and weddings but we are not able to accommodate proms or formals.
    What other events can I have at the Eiteljorg?
    We are happy to accommodate corporate events, private events, weddings, and holiday events.
    How many people do the venues hold?

    Capacity for the venues depends on the venue you select and the tiered package.
