DEAN MITCHELL
Born 1975 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; lives in Tampa, Florida

Being in nature, unspoiled by modern life, quiets the noise of the world and restores my spirit.

DEAN L. MITCHELL IS HIGHLY PROFICIENT in watercolors, egg tempera, oils and pastels. Over the course of his four-decade career, he has gained national recognition for his powerful figurative works, evocative landscapes and intimate still lifes. At just twenty-three, he became the youngest artist ever accepted into the National Watercolor Society, and five years later, he was inducted into the American Watercolor Society.

Mitchell has received numerous gold medals from these and other prestigious art organizations around the world. His accolades now exceed hundreds of awards, and his work is represented in prominent museums, corporate, and private collections throughout the United States. The New York Times art critic Michael Kimmelman has praised him as a “modern-day Vermeer.”
