TERRY COOKE HALL
Born 1953 in Calexico, California; lives in Bozeman, Montana
My work captures the spirit of the Modern West through stylized depictions of the working cowboy. Blending historical inspiration with a fresh, contemporary approach, my style appeals to the traditional Western Art mythos while resonating with today’s modern audiences.
Trained by instructors rooted in the Golden Age of Illustration and influenced by Pop Art and 1970s–80s American illustration, I’ve developed a unique fine art approach that celebrates my passion for design.
FROM THE MID-1970s and on, Terry’s passion for art has led her to numerous courses and workshops in life drawing, graphic design, and illustration, including classical training in the major foundations of fine art. She spent almost 20 years working as a commercial artist, followed by co-owning a commercial art business operating throughout San Diego County. In 2009, she transitioned into a fine art career as a professional artist. She has since earned numerous awards while exhibiting in more than 40 major museum shows along with several gallery group exhibitions. Featured in several national magazines, most recently in the Jan-Feb 2022 Art of the West Magazine as well as a cover feature through Southwest Art Magazine in 2019, her work has been purchased by both corporate and private collectors across the nation. Now residing in Bozeman, Montana, her contemporary style is a result of exploring the colors and essence of the West, viewed through the lens of more than 30 years of work in design and illustration.
