ANGIE HASKELL
Born 1966 in Hindman, Kentucky; lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico

As a modern artist, my work reimagines classic Western themes with a fresh, modern aesthetic that is both nostalgic and forward-looking. Influenced by Picasso, Stuart Davis and Georgia O’Keeffe, my paintings lean into geometric abstraction. The history and tradition of Western art are important, but they were once “new” too, shaped by artists willing to take risks. I’m honored that collectors instantly recognize my work when they see it, as originality is so important.

ANGIE HASKELL IS AN AWARD-WINNING author and contemporary artist whose designs capture the spirit of the American Southwest through a bold fusion of modernist influences and regional iconography. Both her “Midmod West” figures and cubist landscape compositions are rooted in geometric abstraction, drawing inspiration from early modernists like Stuart Davis, Juan Gris and Picasso, while also reflecting the stylization of contemporaries she’s admired from around the world.

Haskell’s palette echoes the vast landscapes and cultural history of the West, while her use of sharp lines and structured compositions lends a sense of order and movement. Through this approach, she reimagines classic Western themes with a fresh, modern aesthetic that is both nostalgic and forward-looking, garnering a dedicated following who instantly recognize her work.

Haskell is married to celebrated artist, William Haskell, with whom she often collaborates and shares many collectors from across the country. Her paintings are featured in esteemed galleries in the southwest as well as prominent art museum shows.
