About Quest for the West

Top Contemporary Artists Share the Stories of the American West

Presented by the Western Art Society and Avis Foundation, Inc.

Join us for Quest for the West®, the Midwest’s largest Western art show for more than 20 years, Friday through Sunday, September 11–13, 2026, at the Eiteljorg Museum in downtown Indianapolis. Memorable experiences await pre-registered guests during opening weekend, with opportunities to meet exceptional contemporary artists alongside art collectors and enthusiasts from across the nation.

Purchase stunning sculptures and paintings through two luck-of-the-draw sales, shop for smaller works during the popular miniature sale, and enjoy delicious food and warm Hoosier hospitality in a beautiful, intimate setting. The artists featured in Quest for the West blend imagined stories with lived experiences, demonstrating how artwork inspired by the western United States continues to shape American culture and identity.

Artist of Distinction

The Art of Tim Cherry

We are thrilled to feature the 2025 Quest for the West Artist of Distinction, Tim Cherry, with a solo exhibition honoring his career as a sculptor.

“ANIMALS HAVE PERSONALITIES that make me smile, and that is what I try to convey through my work,” says Tim Cherry. In his sculptures, Cherry crafts an expression of each animal’s mood, movement, and behavior. With highly polished surfaces and geometric elements that recall Art Deco design, Cherry’s animal portraits contain both lighthearted whimsy and stately gravitas. Cherry says, “My sculptural approach involves the use of simplified shapes and lines to produce curvilinear forms. I enjoy orchestrating these elements into sculpture that is rhythmical, flowing and inviting to the touch.  Capturing the grace and elegance of my subjects is a primary goal.”
