Renowned quillwork artist Melissa Peter-Paul (Mi’kmaw) will lead events at the Eiteljorg Museum and share her quill art-making process. These events are in connection with the traveling
exhibition Gaawii Eta-Go Aawizinoo Gaawiye Mkakoons: It’s Not Just A Quillbox that continues through March 29.
Thursday FEB 26: 1-4 p.m., Live Demos; included with admission.
Friday FEB 27: 11 a.m. Gallery tour; 1-4 p.m. open studio; included with admission.
Saturday FEB 28: 10 a.m.-noon: Quill Workshop. $30 members, $40 non-members. Registration is required and can be done by clicking the button below.
Gaawii Eta-Go Aawizinoo Gaawiye Mkakoons: It’s Not Just A Quillbox is a traveling exhibition from the Ziibiwing Center of Anishinaabe Culture & Lifeways that features more than 90 beautiful quill artworks from the Great Lakes region. The exhibition focuses on how quillboxes are made and their importance to the Anishinaabe peoples.
The traveling exhibition is organized by the Ziibiwing Center for Anishinaabe Culture and Lifeways in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; the Michigan Traditional Arts Program; the MSU Office of University Outreach and Engagement; and the Michigan State University Museum.
