DAVID GRIFFIN
Born 1952 in Lubbock, Texas; lives in Dallas, Texas
My connection with southwestern landscape comes with a deep reverence for God’s Creation. The mesas, mountains, and deserts have been a major part of the visual conversation for millennia. The heritage of unchanged landscape has ever-increasing value, and the years of erosion creates even more beauty and inspiration for future generations. When I decided to paint “Approaching Reverence,” my question was how to communicate the awe, beauty, and reverence I felt at that moment. This is my sincere attempt.
BORN IN 1985, David grew up in Lubbock, Texas. After studying Fine Art at Texas Tech University, he was invited to participate in the first Illustrators’ Workshop, New York, where he studied with Bernie Fuchs, Mark English and Bob Peak. His work was recognized many times by the Illustrators’ Annual National Show during the 1980’s. In 1990, he began to paint professionally full-time.
