On the Colorado River, in the Grand Canyon, the beauty of the Redwall dominates all other strata. Here the iron oxides from the Hermit shale above have stained the greyish white limestone down to a luscious earth red hue. We can see the exposed white color of the limestone when weakened slabs of the Redwall collapse and fall into the river. I never cease to be amazed by the color palette on display along the river. It is indeed a spectacle worthy of a king.
