In order to gain a deeper understanding of my subject, I devote a significant portion of my time to plein air landscape painting and always find new revelations working directly from nature. Although my studio paintings are often imaginary, they are informed by thousands of those plein air studies painted over the years, which lend emotional and empirical truth to my vision of the western landscape.
