Logstown was a significant Native American settlement located 18 miles west of the Forks of the Ohio on the north bank of the Ohio River. A major trading and council site for contesting French and English colonial governments, it was the site of the 1752 signing of the treaty of Logstown between the Ohio Company and the Iroquois Confederacy, Lenape and Shawnee who occupied the region at the time. At its peak the settlement was estimated to have 75-100 log and bark structures including a large council house. It also had cornfields that exceeded 100 acres.
