INDIANAPOLIS – The Eiteljorg Museum is pleased to announce that it has promoted Inga Harrington to the new position of Vice President of People and Culture.
For the past 13 months, Harrington has been Director of Human Resources at the Eiteljorg. The museum recently restructured its Finance and Administration division and moved functions such as payroll, benefits administration, employee and volunteer relations and supporting community engagement into a newly created division, People and Culture, that Harrington will lead.
“I am so blessed and honored to be entrusted with the role of Vice President of People and Culture at the Eiteljorg Museum. I am deeply grateful for the confidence and support of my colleagues and the leadership team,” Harrington said. “As a lover of the arts and culture it is a privilege to help advance the museum’s mission and to continue strengthening our role as a place where art, history, and culture come together to inspire and connect our communities in meaningful ways.”
From Indianapolis, Harrington has over 24 years of experience in program, policy and personnel development, including as director of human resources, before joining the Eiteljorg last year. Harrington’s experience includes leading teams to facilitate positive organizational change and sustainable growth initiatives, through data-driven decision-making and leadership activities.
Harrington is a proud graduate of Indianapolis Public Schools, including Broad Ripple High School, and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public health administration from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1999, and a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in human resources from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2011.
Active in philanthropic and volunteer efforts, Harrington has served as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana since 2005 and received the Big Sister of the Year Award for Central Indiana in 2019. Harrington also serves on the board of Emerging Pearls Foundation, is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and is director of administration at her church, Disciples of Christ Non-Denominational Church.
Through the updated structure, the Eiteljorg’s chief financial officer will be able to focus more fully on the museum’s earned revenue, finances, endowment and other areas, as Harrington concentrates on the new People and Culture division. Harrington will supervise the museum’s human resources staff, and the museum will hire a new HR generalist position to handle payroll and benefits for approximately 54 employees. In her new role as Vice President of People and Culture, Harrington also will provide support and onboarding for the intern program, supervise the museum’s volunteer initiatives and facilitate external community engagement efforts.
”Inga Harrington has been an invaluable partner to our leadership team as we work to transform our organizational culture into one of collaboration, trust and shared purpose. Her thoughtful leadership in developing new policies and guiding the implementation of our new payroll system has strengthened our operations considerably over the last year,” Eiteljorg President and CEO Kathryn Haigh said. “As we continue to invest in training, team-building and transparency, the new People and Culture division will play a central role in advancing a positive workplace culture and supporting employee engagement as well as balance workloads in the museum.”
Haigh also thanked Sunny Reed, the museum’s departing chief financial and administrative officer. This week Reed is leaving the Eiteljorg after four years to assume a new position on the leadership team of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan in Detroit as its chief financial officer.
“Under Sunny Reed’s leadership, we transformed how we manage the Eiteljorg Museum’s finances and human resources, including the development of several important policies. Sunny also led the overhaul of the museum store,” Haigh said. “Her thoughtful approach and dedication to building strong systems have set us up for long-term success, and her contributions will be felt for many years to come.”
The Eiteljorg is seeking a new CFO to succeed Reed and lead the reorganized Finance division.
