One of the most interesting features of San Francisco Chinatown is its unique, bustling alleys. Although they are often so narrow that people walk almost shoulder to shoulder, many businesses find these alleys to be full of life and opportunity. The lantern lights come together in the evening to create a very charming night scene.

BORN IN SOUTHERN CHINA, Mian Situ earned B.A. and M.F.A. degrees from the Guangzhou Institute of Fine Art, then worked as an art instructor for six years. He lived in Canada for 10 years before immigrating to the United States in 1998.
