Digital Marketing Manager
The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art seeks to find a Digital Marketing Manager to join our team. This is a full-time position that includes benefits such as retirement, health, vision and dental insurance, paid time off, and short/long term disability. The Digital Marketing Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and interacts closely with all other departments in the museum. Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, public relations or related field with minimum of two years of experience preferred.

Strong creative skills and judgment with an energetic, entrepreneurial and timely approach to generating audience engagement and digital content.

Understanding of broad scope/framework and of integrated marketing communications planning and the roles various tactics play in achieving overall goals and objectives
-
Ability to formulate digital marketing plans and execute strategically and in a timely manner.

Strong verbal, written and editing skills, including ability to write clean, compelling copy and edit using AP style and standard editor’s marks; keen attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to creatively and strategically manage several social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.), a website and e-newsletter

Detail-oriented, flexible and versatile; excellent organizational and time management skills

An ability and willingness to work some early mornings, evenings and weekends (as media opportunities and museum events require)
- Desire and ability to help organically promote the museum’s mission to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the art, history, and cultures of the American West and the Indigenous peoples of North America, and willingness to apply the mission to all digital efforts, projects and messaging.
Skills:
- Ability to lead and work in a fast-paced, fun and collaborative team environment
- Relevant professional computer and software skills, experience and familiarity with social media platforms, and photography/video experience required
- Graphic design and Adobe suite skills preferred
- Knowledge of social media management software, website builders (WordPress), and e-newsletter distribution platforms a plus

ABOUT THE MUSEUM: Located in White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is a major cultural institution that has developed a national reputation for excellence. The Eiteljorg Museum shares the art, history and diverse cultures of Native America and the American West in all their diversity and complexity. As a 501c3 nonprofit, the Eiteljorg Museum conducts compelling art exhibitions and engaging programs for the public. In 2019, the museum celebrated 30 years of telling amazing stories.
Thomas G. and Susan C. Hoback Curator of Great Lakes Native Cultures and Community Engagement
The Eiteljorg Museum is currently accepting applications for the position Thomas G. and Susan C. Hoback Curator of Great Lakes Native Cultures and Community Engagement. The Eiteljorg Museum recognizes the critical importance having Native/Indigenous knowledge and experiences represented within the institution to actively and accurately incorporate Native presence/voices in museum activities. The Curator of Great Lakes Native Cultures and Community Engagement works to build strong, active, and ongoing relationships with Native communities, to share their stories with diverse audiences through exhibits, public presentations and other opportunities for engagement. This endowed position is responsible for implementing the museum’s Great Lakes Initiative, which seeks to establish the museum as a resource for programs, projects, and information related to the Native arts, histories, and cultures of our own Great Lakes region. As a member of the curatorial and education/public programs teams, the position collaborates and provides support across departments in fulfilling the museum’s mission “to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the art, history, and cultures of the American West and the Indigenous peoples of North America”. - Graduate degree* in arts or humanities such as history, art history, Native American studies, anthropology, education, social work/social justice, or a related subject.
- Experience and knowledge will be given consideration as a substitution for a graduate degree.
- Demonstrated experience building and nurturing relationships with Native/Indigenous communities.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in an educational setting, museum, cultural center, or related entity.
- Knowledge of the arts, histories, and cultures of the Native/Indigenous peoples of the Great Lakes region
- Demonstrated public speaking skills;
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or as part of a team;
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to audience engagement and public outreach;
- Ability to travel as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Support the Eiteljorg Museum’s mission, goals, values, and implementation of the museum’s strategic plan;
- Contribute to building a positive team spirit and cooperative atmosphere with co-workers;
- Follow museum and department policies and procedures; maintain records, and live up to commitments including completion of tasks accurately and on time;
- Participate in acquisitions committee and collections council activities;
- Maintain proficiency in all computer-related programs to perform job duties;
- Adhere to safe work procedures;
- Value and appreciate others’ knowledge and skills;
- Have a sense of humor
