Member-Only Coffee & Conversation with Jessica Nelson, Ph.D., curator
July 20 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us for an exciting member-only Coffee & Conversation centered around Acts of Faith: Religion and the American West!
Jessica Nelson, Ph.D., one of the exhibition contributors and author of the companion book Religion and the American West: Belief, Violence, and Resilience, will lead the discussion. She will delve into the section of the exhibit she curated, exploring the roles of various religions and spiritual beliefs in shaping the American West.
Joining Jessica is Rupy C. Tut, a Punjabi-American artist based in California. Tut employs traditional Indian methods to create vibrant scenes, including making her own paints by grinding dyes. Her commissioned piece for Acts of Faith, “Cooking the Same, Only Talk Different,” appears in the Eiteljorg’s section of the exhibition (pictured below). Rupy draws inspiration from the Punjabi Sikh-Catholic Mexican community that emerged near where she lives in Northern California.
This event is free to Eiteljorg Museum members and includes complimentary coffee and donuts.
