This event will take place before the panel discussion to celebrate the official release day of the groundbreaking Native-led publication, In the Company of Our Relatives. This Native-led publication honors the stories, relationships, and ancestral knowledge connected to the Richard Pohrt Jr. Collection-featuring cultural belongings from Great Lakes region tribes. With contributions written and edited by descendants of the original makers, this work centers Indigenous voices and offers reflections shaped by oral tradition, care, deep cultural connection, and creating written documentation for their grandchildren’s grandchildren.
