Experience Día de Muertos/Day of the Dead at the Eiteljorg with community partner Arte Mexicano en Indiana. Learn about the Indigenous roots and history behind the holiday, watch performances and demonstrations, meet artists and explore artwork, support local artists buy shopping in the mercado and create your own pieces of art to take home!
What is Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead)?
With roots going back thousands of years to Indigenous traditions in Mexico, this holiday is a time to gather together to remember and celebrate friends and relatives who have passed on. Día de Muertos, also called Day of the Dead, has evolved into a diverse festival, celebrated not only in Mexico but in the U.S. and many other countries.

Con raíces que se remontan a miles de años de tradiciones indígenas en México, esta fiesta es un momento para reunirse, recordar y celebrar a los amigos y familiares que han fallecido. El Día de Muertos, también llamado Day of the Dead, ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en una fiesta diversa, que se celebra no sólo en México, sino también en Estados Unidos y en muchos otros países.
