Community Exhibit Guidelines

Ruth Lilly Community Gallery
The Ruth Lilly Community Gallery presents exhibitions that reflect the diversity, creativity, and lived experiences of the communities we serve. We seek exhibitions that inspire dialogue, foster connection, and celebrate a wide range of artistic perspectives. The gallery is also committed to providing professional exhibition opportunities for emerging and underrepresented artists.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for exhibition:
• All participating artists must be current residents of Indiana.
• Preference will be given to artists residing in Marion County and surrounding counties.
• Exhibitions must feature a minimum of two artists
• Solo exhibitions (please contact Rebecca Robinson at rrobinson@eiteljorg.com)
• Artists may work in any visual art medium, including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, fiber art, mixed media, and digital art.

Exhibition Priorities

Preference will be given to proposals that:
• Amplify underrepresented voices and perspectives.
• Provide meaningful professional opportunities for emerging and underrepresented artists.
• Reflect the cultural, social, and artistic diversity of our community.
• Explore relevant and engaging themes that encourage conversation and learning.
• Foster community engagement and accessibility.

Exhibition Selection Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:
• Relevance to the gallery's mission and community focus.
• Representation of diverse perspectives and experiences.
• Support for emerging and underrepresented artists.
• Feasibility of installation within the gallery space.
• Potential for community impact and engagement.
• Artistic quality and originality.

We encourage submissions from artists of all backgrounds and identities and particularly welcome proposals that elevate voices historically underrepresented in arts institutions.
