Juneteenth and Jazz Community Celebration

Juneteenth commemorates the formal abolition of slavery in the United States when federal troops entered Galveston, Texas after the end of the Civil War in 1865 and enforced the Emancipation Proclamation. In honor of Juneteenth and its celebration of freedom, enjoy FREE museum admission with live jazz performances, cultural presentations and poetry readings. Author Shonda Buchanan will do a reading from her new book about jazz icon Nina Simone; a book-signing will follow. For more details click the link below.
