DEAI Challenge
One Week: Eiteljorg DEAI Challenge
First, let’s (quickly) cover the basics of DEAI: it stands for diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion. The goal of DEAI is for all people to have equal opportunities, to ensure teams and groups are diverse (including race, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion background, etc.), and for everyone to feel welcome.
DEAI is a key component of creating a safe and supportive work environment—or any environment for that matter. It operates under the idea that all people should feel included and equal, and that a team shouldn’t consist of just one type of person. If this is your first introduction to the term DEAI, then read this article for a more in-depth look at what each term means before beginning the 3-day challenge.

Are you ready to spark meaningful conversations about diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI)? We invite you to participate in our DEAI Challenge, designed to foster dialogue and reflection within our museum community.
Here’s how it works:
📅 Duration: The challenge spans over 3 days, from March 18th to March 20th.
👀 Content: Watch and read curated videos and articles on DEAI topics. These resources may present diverse perspectives, and it’s okay if you don’t agree with all of them.
🗣️ Discussion: Engage in discussions with at least one colleague about the content you’ve explored. Share your thoughts, experiences, and questions.
🌈 Open-mindedness: Embrace diverse viewpoints and opinions. There’s no right or wrong way to interpret the content. Respect differing perspectives and offer space for constructive dialogue.
💬 Communication: Encourage open, honest, and respectful communication during discussions. Listen actively and be receptive to others’ viewpoints.
🤝 Community Building: Use this challenge as an opportunity to strengthen connections with your colleagues and build a more inclusive museum community.
🔍 Exploration: Use this challenge as an opportunity to deepen your understanding of DEAI issues and explore how they manifest in our daily lives.
Let’s embark on this journey together and create a more inclusive and equitable museum environment. Ready to take on the challenge? Let’s get started!
