As our nation celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, we are dedicating 2020 to Honoring Women by bringing women’s perspectives and stories front and center. Experience a dynamic year of exhibits and programming as we share these amazing stories.

Leon Jett Memorial Lecture: Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America

Award-winning author and cultural documentarian Candacy Taylor will discuss the Green Book. A book signing of Overground Railroad will follow.

Saturday, Feb. 29
1 – 2 p.m.
Shonda Buchanan reading and lecture

Poet and educator Shonda Buchanan will discuss her new memoir, Black Indian, and her family’s legacy of being African-American with Native American roots. A book signing will follow.

Quilts: Uncovering Women’s Stories

Quilts embody personal stories and symbolize community relationships. Explore the diverse experiences of women in the American West and Native America.

How We Got Over: The Role of Storytelling in African-American made Quilts

Artist, author and historian Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi is founder of the Women of Color Quilters Network and is recognized as one of the nation’s most creative textile artists.
