Artist in Residence: Emily Guerrero

Artists in Residence: The Eiteljorg’s artist in residence program brings Native and Western artists from across North America to the museum and to classrooms, libraries and senior centers in the local community. Visiting artists provide a mix of small onsite and virtual online offerings.

Emily’s Bio: Mexica-Arts founder, Emily J. Guerrero, a storyteller, folk artist of Mexica indigenous ancestry. Emily embodies her ancestral traditions as she encourages and inspires audiences to expand their knowledge of diverse cultures in their midst. Her performances, installation arts and workshops for various age audiences offer insights to the diverse montage of the multicultural communities. She is a dedicated and passionate advocate of cultural arts. Throughout her career Emily has served as an advocate in leadership roles for development of culturally inclusive programs.

Open Studio: Saturday, Oct. 8, Oct. 11 1 – 4 p.m.

Virtual Artist Talk: Tuesday, Oct. 11 at noon Eastern

Storytelling: Friday, Oct. 7 at 1 & 3 p.m.

Join artist and storyteller Emily Guerrero for stories about Monarch butteries, bees, corn and cacao. Included with museum admission. This event will be free with museum admission and take place in the galleries.

 

Workshop: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Join us for a workshop filled with story-telling from our Mexica indigenous Artist in Residence Emily Guerrero. After listening to Emily’s amazing stories, spend some time creating your own ofrenda decorations to take home!

Members-Only Coffee & Conversation: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 9 – 10 a.m.
