SUMMARY:Día de Muertos Community Altar and Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Community Art & Altars \nThe Day of the Dead\, or Día de Muertos\, is a special holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. It is a time when families remember and honor their loved ones who have passed away. One of the most colorful and creative ways people celebrate is through the art displayed. This year’s art display is presented by students of the West Deanery Unified Catholic Schools. Through the use of masks\, sugar skulls (calaveras)\, paper flowers (cempasuchil)\, and digital outputs\, the students honored their dead loved ones for our community to remember. Altars\, or ofrendas\, set the stage for the arrival of our dearly departed. Our community partners each honor those important to their organzations and the overall Indy community. The ofrendas remind us that as long as we continue to remember those who are no longer with us\, we continue to keep their memory alive. \nParticipating Artists | Artistas Participantes\nAamber Chikati\nAbraham Garcia\nAlexander Ortega\nAlexis Mendoza\nAndrew Sanchez\nAntonio Barrientos Sofia\nAnwar Jones\nAreli Rodriguez Estrada\nAriadne Castro-Rodriguez\nAshley Mendoza\nAubri Williams\nAxel Perez Sarmiento\nBeatriz Acevedo\nBrisa Cordova\nBrittney Palacios Guerrero\nCamila Silva\nChristian Saint Preux\nChristiann Laptiste\nChristopher Najar-Mayorga\nDana Hiatt\nDavid Cervantes\nDavid Flores-Morales\nDelina Menesteab\nDiego Macias\nDonald Moore\nDraymonte Towns\nElijah Wembodinga\nElizabeth Humphries-Cox\nEvelia Sandoval\nEvelyn Buell\nFernanda Argueta-Suarez\nGabriel Carlos\nGael Ortela Abraham Hasling Sotelo Meza\nHenry Pedroza-Sanchez\nHeylin Altamirano Alvarez\nHubert Twagirumukiza\nIsaac Zermeno\nJamie Cruz Espino\nJancarlos Ortela Abraham\nJasper Butler\nJayden Ibanez Diaz\nJayden Mendez Jessy Sandoval\nToanna Sturgis\nJosephine Arregoita\nKebron Baffle\nLaysha Diego Resendiz\nLilli Garcia\nLizbeth Flores Rodriguez\nMaria Gonzalez Simanica\nMariana Torres\nMarie Guzman\nMary Ann Van Gheem\nMaximiliano Rodriguez\nMichael Gutierrez-Orozco\nMichael Ukohlawence\nNaja Harris\nNestor Molina-Zarate\nRonaldo Ibanez Rodriguez\nRyian Vazquez\nSamuel Garcia\nSarah Julius\nSemaj White\nSofia Alejandra\nVeronica Chapman\nXavier Sturgis\nAnna Brochhausen School 88\nAsociación de Mujeres Mexicanas en Indiana Broad Ripple and Northwest Middle Schools\nCentro Cultural Hispano/Hispanic Cultural Hub\nChingon Legacy\nChrist Church Cathedral Ministerio Hispano\nConsulado de Mexico en Indianápolis\nEnlace Academy\nGlobal Preparatory Academy at Riverside 44\nIndianapolis Public Library Latin Culture Committee\nIndy Liberation Center\nLa Plaza\nMeredith Nicholson School 96\nMexicanas en Indianápolis\nMeztli Cultural of Indianapolis\nMonarca Academy\nMt.
