TahNibaa Naataanii has always been a weaver.  Her first name TahNibaa, which means “weaver,” was given to her by a grandmother who was certain that she would follow this path.  She learned to weave at an early age, but college and time in the military took her away for a while.  She remembers meeting some weavers in the Phillipines and realizing how much she missed her own weaving.

She has since returned to live on the Navajo reservation where she is a full-time weaver, raising sheep to supply much of the wool she needs.  She shears, spins and dyes the wool and then weaves it into beautiful rugs, wall hangings and other weavings.  She was only with us a week but managed to demonstrate every aspect of the process, including some sheep shearing!
